A dingo ate your baby

So, according to my books, Tiny Campbell is currently the size of a raspberry or a pinto bean. Is it just a coincidence, then, that I've been craving pinto beans all week? I finally broke down and went to Taco Bell tonight, and got two bean burritos. They were divine.

We also bought peppermint ice cream, which I dumped in my hot chocolate tonight, which was divine as well.

If you can't tell, today's been a good day as far as food goes. Erika's leftover morning sickness pills are really coming in handy for the bad days, although they make me extremely drowsy. I'm glad I don't have a commute, for that reason!

I actually look pregnant today, because of all the bloat. I'm trying to stay very hydrated, which is also supposed to make me retain less water, but it's not really working today. Let's just say I'm really glad scrubs are so forgiving. Although, when Charles and I were getting our prescriptions renewed the other day, we both found out we'd lost weight since our last appointments. And since I technically started my pregnancy a little overweight, it's good for Tiny Campbell that I've lost a few pounds. Don't worry, I'm sure they'll be back before long!

Official Announcement

I'm really pregnant. Technically there is only one degree of pregnancy; I know that. But I am really feeling pregnant.

I'm at seven weeks today, according to the due date calculator I found online. Our baby is about the size of a blueberry, and looking very much like a mutant kidney bean, from the pictures in my pregnancy books. (let's hope there aren't this many blueberries inside me!)

Speaking of, I'm totally hooked on these books. I had a dream that we were visiting someone somewhere, and I realized I was at seven weeks, and I freaked out because I couldn't read about the seventh week in my books until we got home. I felt stranded! I'm really not that desperate in real life, though. I just like to read about the upcoming week in the baby's development on Sundays.

I didn't make it through church today, because the fatigue and nausea just overwhelmed me. And when I woke up to the smell of Charles' dinner (cornbread and fried chicken, formerly one of my all time favorites) I was beyond grossed out. That's not to say he isn't a great cook. But anything but really cold water right now just really makes me feel funky. I can't wait until this goes away and the cravings kick back in, because I know that if I could get over this feeling for a few minutes, I would really miss food. We used to be so tight, food and me.

A few months ago, buying a present for a friend's baby shower, I came across something called "Prego Pops" at BabiesRUs. They're supposed to help with morning sickness and fatigue. I laughed at the thought of it, because they cost about two dollars per lollipop or something. And just to show that I've been completely humbled, I'm heading to BabiesRUs tomorrow. Gotta get me some prego pops.

In other news, my Medicaid application is in, and my Baby your Baby application's in, too. Hopefully I won't be needing either until my first prenatal appointment in the first week of November, but I know I'll feel better having them taken care of before then. And I know my mom will, too. That's her first question everytime I call home.

I've decided that I need to document the fun stuff that is pregnancy, even if we haven't told very many people yet. So, at some point, this may be a more public blog, but for now, if you're one of our readers, please don't mention it to too many people, because they may not know yet. However, if you're in the Fredericksburg area, apparently my little brother's already filled you in on the details, so feel free to gab away if you're so inclined.
Also, in the future I plan to post belly pictures every Sunday, so everyone can see how charmingly maternal I'm becoming. However, our battery charger for the camera is mysteriously MIA right now, so until then, just picture me really beautiful and blonde and leggy, if you've got a good imagination. Otherwise, picture me as how I normally look, but maybe a little skinnier to be nice.
